 Cabbage soup


 
Ingredients:
  1-1,5 kg  sour cabbage
    400 g    pork meat (shoulder, leg)
        1       onion
     2-4       cloves of garlic
        2       pieces of home made sausages
        1       handful of dried mushrooms
        1       handful of dried plums
                 a bit of dried apples
                 oil
                 bay-leaf
                 whole pepper
                 ground mild paprika
                 unground cumin
                 a piece of streaky bacon

Instructions:

  1. Dice the onion and bacon, roast them in a heated oil
  2. Add the meat and roast it, decrease the temperature, add ground mild paprika and quickly pour on water ( paprika won´t get bitter)
  3. Add sour cabbage with a bit of cabbage water (if the cabbage is too sour, add water 1:1), cut up slices of one sausage, divide the second in halfs and add into the cabbage
  4. Add mushrooms, plums, apples and seasonings
  5. Slowly cook for one hour
  6. Season with the salt (if you like, you can add some sour cream and you can thicken the soup with grated potato)
